Basically what it does, it gives you a command prompt in WinPE. This allows you to do basic troubleshooting but the main thing for me\u00a0is that it allows\u00a0me to copy Task Sequence log file to USB drive, so\u00a0I can check it for errors.<\/p>\n<p>To enable this feature open <strong>Configuration Manager Console<!--more--><br \/>\n<\/strong>1. Go to <strong>System Center Configuration Manager&gt;Site Database&gt;Computer Management&gt;Boot Images<br \/>\n<\/strong>2. Right Click on Boot image(in this case it\u00a0is 64bit)\u00a0and choose <strong>Properties<br \/>\n<\/strong>3. Select\u00a0<strong>Windows PE<\/strong> tab<br \/>\n4. Tick <strong>Enable command support (testing only) <\/strong>Click OK<br \/>\n<a href=\"http:\/\/www.kozeniauskas.com\/itblog\/files\/2008\/10\/cmd_support_3.jpg\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.kozeniauskas.com\/itblog\/files\/2008\/10\/cmd_support_3.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone size-thumbnail wp-image-284\" title=\"cmd_support_3\" src=\"http:\/\/www.kozeniauskas.com\/itblog\/files\/2008\/10\/cmd_support_3-150x150.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"150\" height=\"150\" \/><\/a><\/a><br \/>\n5. You will receive the following message box. Click Yes.<br \/>\n<a href=\"http:\/\/www.kozeniauskas.com\/itblog\/files\/2008\/10\/cmd_support_4.jpg\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.kozeniauskas.com\/itblog\/files\/2008\/10\/cmd_support_4.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone size-thumbnail wp-image-285\" title=\"cmd_support_4\" src=\"http:\/\/www.kozeniauskas.com\/itblog\/files\/2008\/10\/cmd_support_4-150x150.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"150\" height=\"150\" \/><\/a><\/a><br \/>\n6. This will launch Manage Distribution Points Wizard Which will update Boot image. Click Next<br \/>\n<a href=\"http:\/\/www.kozeniauskas.com\/itblog\/files\/2008\/10\/cmd_support_5.jpg\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.kozeniauskas.com\/itblog\/files\/2008\/10\/cmd_support_5.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone size-thumbnail wp-image-286\" title=\"cmd_support_5\" src=\"http:\/\/www.kozeniauskas.com\/itblog\/files\/2008\/10\/cmd_support_5-150x150.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"150\" height=\"150\" \/><\/a><\/a><br \/>\n7. Wait until the progress is finished. Click Close.<br \/>\n<a href=\"http:\/\/www.kozeniauskas.com\/itblog\/files\/2008\/10\/cmd_support_6.jpg\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.kozeniauskas.com\/itblog\/files\/2008\/10\/cmd_support_6.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone size-thumbnail wp-image-287\" title=\"cmd_support_6\" src=\"http:\/\/www.kozeniauskas.com\/itblog\/files\/2008\/10\/cmd_support_6-150x150.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"150\" height=\"150\" \/><\/a><\/a><br \/>\nFinished.<\/p>\n<p>Now do the same on the other Boot image.<\/p>\n<p>Once you have Boot images updated you can Boot your machine\u00a0using PXE into WinPE. When your WinPE is booted press F8 and this will open Command console.<br \/>\n<a href=\"http:\/\/www.kozeniauskas.com\/itblog\/files\/2008\/10\/cmd_support_1.jpg\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.kozeniauskas.com\/itblog\/files\/2008\/10\/cmd_support_1.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone size-thumbnail wp-image-282\" title=\"cmd_support_1\" src=\"http:\/\/www.kozeniauskas.com\/itblog\/files\/2008\/10\/cmd_support_1-150x150.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"150\" height=\"150\" \/><\/a><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Task sequence log file smsts.log is located in x:\\smstslog<br \/>\n<a href=\"http:\/\/www.kozeniauskas.com\/itblog\/files\/2008\/10\/cmd_support_2.jpg\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.kozeniauskas.com\/itblog\/files\/2008\/10\/cmd_support_2.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone size-thumbnail wp-image-283\" title=\"cmd_support_2\" src=\"http:\/\/www.kozeniauskas.com\/itblog\/files\/2008\/10\/cmd_support_2-150x150.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"150\" height=\"150\" \/><\/a><\/a><\/p>\n<p>You can use command console to do\u00a0many things(like using\u00a0Diskpart to partition drives etc.) It has the basic commands that Windows recovery console has.<\/p>\n<p><em>Note: If you have previously created Task Sequence media CD\/DVD\/USB and want that\u00a0Command console to\u00a0be available there, you will need to recreate them again.<\/em><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>To troubleshoot SCCM OSD problems it is very handy to have Command console enabled.
