{"id":440,"date":"2010-10-28T11:49:14","date_gmt":"2010-10-28T10:49:14","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.kozeniauskas.com\/itblog\/?p=440"},"modified":"2011-02-11T11:33:51","modified_gmt":"2011-02-11T11:33:51","slug":"dcom-event-10016","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.kozeniauskas.com\/itblog\/2010\/10\/28\/dcom-event-10016\/","title":{"rendered":"DCOM Event 10016"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Here is one of the Event errors that I&#8217;ve got on one of the SCCM servers.<br \/>\nSource: DCOM<br \/>\nType: Error<br \/>\nEvent ID: 10016<\/p>\n<p><em>The application-specific permission settings do not grant Local Launch permission for the COM Server application with CLSID<br \/>\n{A8889E84-14D9-43D0-813A-249BFFE193C2}<br \/>\nto the user domain\\useraccount (S-1-5-21-1957994488-1004336348-839522115-9143).\u00a0 This security permission can be modified using the Component Services administrative tool.<br \/>\n<\/em><br \/>\n<!--more--><br \/>\nAs the error suggests the specified account does not have Local Launch permissions for COM server.<br \/>\n<strong>CLSID<\/strong> in the event is not the same as application ID you can find in the <strong>Component Services<\/strong>.<br \/>\nTo find <strong>Application ID<\/strong> launch registry editor(regedit) and navigate to <strong>HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\\CLSID\\ <\/strong>in there find the <strong>CLSID<\/strong> that is shown in the event(<em>in my case it was {A8889E84-14D9-43D0-813A-249BFFE193C2}).<br \/>\n<\/em>There you should see the <strong>AppID<\/strong> with string value.<\/p>\n<p>Now open Component Services and navigate to <strong>Computers&gt;My Computer&gt;DCOM Config <\/strong>in here look for <strong>Application ID<\/strong> that matches <strong>AppID<\/strong> in registry. Right click on it and select <strong>Properties<\/strong>.<br \/>\nClick on <strong>Security<\/strong> tab, in <strong>Launch and Activation Permissions <\/strong>click <strong>Edit<\/strong> button.<br \/>\nNow grant the user that is listed in the event <strong>Launch Permissions.<br \/>\n<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>This should get rid of these errors.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Here is one of the Event errors that I&#8217;ve got on one of the SCCM servers.
